Appeal from European students
for all hostages’ liberation in
Iraq

We are students committed in peace movement and we launch an appeal for the liberation of all hostages that are prisoners in Iraq. To hurt them is not in favour to peace cause, on the contrary, it sustains the idea that war and violence are means for resolving world problems.

We speak to all Iraqi students and to all civil society. What we ask you is to commit yourselves to hostages’ liberation beginning from an active mobilisation in schools and universities for 21st of September, the world peace day proclaimed from United Nation.

We are all sure that the only way to go out from vicious circle of poverty, oppression as well as violence and injustice is education, and for achieving this aim we will continue cooperating with you to rebuild Iraqi schools destroyed by bombs.

We are convinced that only thanks to education and free access to culture, all people can start creating together another world possible and necessary. It is for this reason that we will continue asking for the “silence of weapons” and the military costs to be converted in useful investments in right of knowledge for all people in the world.

This is our way to say that we are against this war: without it all this tragic situation wouldn’t happened; that we are very close to hostages’ families and that we are very close to all Iraqi people everyday engaged for peace.
