EARTHQUAKE EMERGENCY IN SYRIA

Today marks the end of the fundraising campaign for Un Ponte Per's "Emergency Earthquake in Syria", which was launched a month ago just hours after the earthquake. We will continue to allocate donations from previously scheduled events organized by friendly associations, groups, and institutions to support the earthquake emergency.
The response from donors was overwhelmingly positive, resulting in a figure that quickly surpassed our original goal of 109,000 euros. We would like to express our gratitude for your solidarity and support.
A terrible earthquake has struck regions of southern Turkey and northern Syria.
There are more than 5,000 victims in Syria alone, in addition to about 35,000 in Turkey.
In Syria, already worn down by almost 12 years of conflict, bombing and interference by foreign powers that have traumatized the population and weakened many buildings, thousands of people have been injured and left homeless and hundreds of buildings reduced to rubble, including several hospitals.
Our local staff let us know that there are already 10,000 displaced families in need. And the situation could worsen in the coming hours.

Among the most affected areas, the district of Afrin and the city of Jindires.
"Three-quarters of the city has been destroyed: these are areas already severely affected by the Turkish attack of 2019, so the buildings did not withstand the impact of the earthquake.
