Because every child’s future starts at school

Because of the Covid-19 pandemic, many girls and boys are facing unprecedented educational challenges.
Un Ponte Per is working with students, their families, teachers and local institutions to prevent them dropping out of school and to provide them with psychosocial protection and assistance.
Wherever they are born, girls and boys are all children of the same world.

 

 

 

 

Now more than ever, education is our most powerful tool for protecting the future of girls and boys. And we are developing special targeted projects to achieve that goal. 

 

For example?

• Catch-up lessons for 713 Palestinian girls and boys in Lebanese camps: they have begun studying properly again after months of on-line lessons, absences and isolation.
• Training courses for teachers and educators in peace-building, distance learning and psychosocial assistance.
• Informal training for 800 young Syrian refugees who live in camps in Iraq.
• The establishment by Un Ponte Per of a Child Friendly Space in Raqqa, Syria: a centre where young people who have experienced violence and displacement can play and benefit from psychosocial assistance and other childhood protection services.
• School support and catch-up lessons in Jordan for 230 girls and boys who are disabled or at risk of dropping out of school, who are not enrolled in the education system.

 

 

School provides education. School also provides protection.

School provides girls and boys with a safe and stable environment which offers a sense of normality, dignity and hope in the midst of crises.
In the poorest countries and in those suffering conflict and crises, families trust schools to ensure their children’s access to essential rights and services: school meals, hygiene kits for menstruation, child protection services and specialized support for children with disabilities.

We can help these girls and boys today.
